Lead has been one of the many ingredients of many things found in our household. They are abundant in nature that is why it is cheaper to buy and to use. But because of lead being poisonous in larger quantities, many have been trying to ban the use of lead on most of these items. For example, lead bullets are now being used less and less, and campaign to totally ban lead as a main ingredient in bullet production has been underway. Right now, the Winchester Company and the Remington Company, two of the leading gun makers in the world, are already creating lead free ammunition. People are getting more and more conscious of their health and the environment.
Actually, they also discourage it when deer hunting, because researchers believe that bullets made of lead that are left in the bodies of dead animals will enter the system of other animals while trying to eat the leftovers. The use of higher caliber guns is a must to make the kill quickly, and not make the animal suffer. Recently, not just rifles are used for hunting; handguns have become popular as well. The 45 colt, that uses 45 acp bullets, and the 44 magnum, are examples of popular choice handguns. Although tests on effects of lead on meat have been inconclusive, people still take precaution in using anything with lead, keeping them away from children and pregnant women because of possible effects to their health like lowered IQ, learning disability, and in worse cases, death.
