You Can Replant Areas With Snow Grass Damage Easily
on June 14th, 2011 at 12:03 amLiving in an area with snow in the wintertime can leave your lawn in bad shape when it finally melts. You can end up with dead areas that need to be worked on and replanted. Too much shade and poor drainage also contributes to the damage. snow grass damage can be worked over and the dead, matted grass raked out. Using a tool to aerate the bare patches will leave tiny holes for new seeds to take root. Then as you water the soil falls into the holes and covers the seeds. The new shoots will begin to surface in a couple of weeks.
Another problem in the snow areas is what the salt does to the lawn and vegetation, especially if you live near the road. Tires of passing cars fling the salted snow onto your property and as the snow melts the salt does its damage. You may need to treat lawn salt damage in a similar manner as the damaged grass from heavy snowfall. The salt can kill sections of the lawn leaving it patchy and bare. So you will need to work the soil over and aerate it then spread new grass seed that can take root.
